REVERSE ENGINEERING
At The Wire Shop, one of the services you may need to take advantage of is reverse engineering. With the use of our CMM, we digitally map out the outside shape, contour and any holes that may be in your existing part. We then transfer that to our CAD software where we begin to reconstruct your piece. As shown below, you can see the outside shape and holes that were digitized. These are in the brighter green color. We then follow the red points from the digitizing and create the 3d surface that was on your existing part.
We then use our CAM software to produce a path for our CNC mills to cut the desired 3d contour on your part. The picture below shows this particular part before the last operation is completed.
The last step is to Wire EDM the final profile that was digitized.
